The Tax Impact
Pine River-Backus School District has worked hard to create a plan to keep our schools and vehicle fleet in good condition and support our technology needs for years to come. This means repairing and upgrading essential infrastructure that is important for our students and staff, and providing long-term value for our community.
If voters approve the 10-year, 2.75% capital projects levy in April, a $300,000 residential home would see a property tax increase of $6 per month starting in 2026.

Keeping taxes low and stable while supporting Our schools

We work hard to make smart, responsible investments that provide value for our students, staff and community. We are committed to keeping taxes low and stable for our district residents while ensuring a voter-approved levy helps us maintain the great facilities that we already have and the quality education we provide.
If voters approve the 2.75% capital projects levy in April, the district will continue to have one of the lowest tax burdens compared to neighboring school districts.
What happens if the referendum does not pass?
Our challenges aren’t going away. We will still need to pay for building repairs, upgrades to our busses and passenger vans, and support technology equipment and staff. Our school board and district leadership would evaluate how to fund these critical projects and how these decisions would affect the day-to-day operations of our schools.
